Air Fryer Corn Dogs

Cooking frozen corn dogs in the air fryer is the easiest way to get crispy corn dog batter outside and perfectly cooked, juicy hot dogs inside. Once you try this method, you’ll never want to cook corn dogs any other way again!

Air fryer corn dogs with mustard

What Makes Air Fryer Corn Dogs So Good

  • The corn dogs come out perfectly hot and crispy in just 10 minutes! If you’ve ever tried microwaving corn dogs, you know the soft-batter struggle, and sometimes the hot dogs inside aren’t heated evenly. The oven takes care of the cooking issues, but you need to preheat it for 10 minutes and then wait 15-20 minutes for your corn dogs to cook. The air fryer gives you the best of both worlds – perfectly cooked corn dogs in minimal time.
  • No thawing needed! Take the corn dogs out of the freezer and pop them straight into your preheated air fryer. Great for last-minute meals!
  • Over-anticipate your hunger and cook too many corn dogs or corn dog nuggets for one sitting? No problem! Refrigerate them and use this same method to reheat them later! They’ll crisp right up again. Start out by reheating them for just 3 to 5 minutes, then add more time if needed.

Key Ingredients for Air Fryer Corn Dogs

Frozen Corn Dogs – This method works for any kind of frozen corn dogs, even mini corn dogs! You can cook as many or as few as you want, too. You might need to work in multiple batches if you’re cooking a lot, especially if your air fryer is small, so keep that in mind!

Chef’s Tips

  • As with any appliance, cook times will vary from one air fryer to another. Keep an eye on your food, especially the first time or two, and adjust your cook times as needed.
  • You can totally eat corn dogs on their own, but I love mine with mustard. Ketchup is another tried-and-true topping, but really, when it comes to corn dog condiments, anything goes. I even like my mini corn dogs with honey mustard or a little nacho cheese!
  • A light spritz of air-fryer-safe spray oil on the basket will help keep the corn dogs from sticking, but depending on your air fryer, it may not be necessary. Be sure not to use any aerosol cooking sprays in your air fryer, because they can damage the coating on your basket!

Frozen Mozzarella Sticks in the Air Fryer

Cooking frozen mozzarella sticks in the air fryer is the easiest way to get perfectly crispy mozzarella sticks full of hot, gooey cheese in just 10 minutes.

Frozen mozzarella sticks cooked in the air fryer then placed a on a white plate with a small bowl of marinara

What Makes Frozen Mozzarella Sticks in the Air Fryer So Good

  • This method gives you perfectly crispy mozzarella sticks without the mess (and calories) of deep frying. They come out way crispier than baking them in the oven, too!
  • It’s so quick! 7 minutes in the air fryer is all you need to put together a tasty snack even the kids will love. Definitely keep this one in your back pocket!
  • If your air fryer is large enough, you can cook a ton of mozzarella sticks all at once! That means you can easily feed a big group without any extra effort.

Key Ingredients for Frozen Mozzarella Sticks in the Air Fryer

Frozen Mozzarella Sticks – You can use any brand of frozen cheese sticks you like for this method! The cook times may vary slightly with larger or thicker cheese sticks, so keep an eye on them and adjust as needed.

Chef’s Tips

  • Marinara sauce is the traditional dipping-sauce-of-choice when it comes to mozzarella sticks, but I personally like to dip mine in ranch dressing. You could really use anything, though – ketchup, BBQ sauce, blue cheese dressing, the sky’s the limit!
  • Don’t overlap the frozen mozzarella sticks in the air fryer. To cook evenly, the air has to be able to circulate freely. If the mozzarella sticks touch anywhere, that’ll be a spot where the air can’t reach!
  • If the cheese starts to ooze out of the mozzarella sticks, that means they’re overcooked. You can try lowering the temperature on your air fryer, or shortening the cook time. You’ll know the mozzarella sticks are ready when they’re crispy but a little squishy when you squeeze them. If they’re still firm, they’re not done yet.
  • It’s not necessary, but you can spray a little air-fryer-safe oil in the basket first, to keep your mozzarella sticks from sticking. Another spritz of oil on the sticks themselves will give them an even crispier coating!

Sausage in the Air Fryer

Cooking sausage in the air fryer is our favorite way to get Italian sausage or bratwurst on the table! Hands off and super quick, the air fryer cooks sausage beautifully, with a perfect crisp skin.

5 Italian sausages on a platter

What Makes Sausages in the Air Fryer So Good

  • This air fryer method is SO easy. No standing over the stovetop while grease splashes everywhere, turning the sausages constantly to make sure they’re browned (not burnt) outside but still perfectly cooked inside. Here the air fryer does all the work, and it’s virtually hands-free! You just need to flip the sausages once, halfway through the cook time.
  • Air fryer sausages come out perfectly cooked, every single time. Stovetop sausages can vary every time you make them if the heat is even slightly off, or if you flip them too many times, or not enough, or any number of little factors. Air fryer sausages are always beautifully crisp outside and outrageously juicy inside.
  • It takes less than 20 minutes to go from fridge to table! Sausages make a great pairing with all sorts of things, too – roasted peppers and onions, potatoes, pasta with a cream sauce… you could even eat the sausages in buns or just on their own!

Key Ingredients for Sausage in the Air Fryer

Sausage – Link sausages are literally the only ingredient you need for air fryer sausages! This method will work for any link sausage, so just pick your favorite (or try something new, it’s entirely up to you!). Smaller links, like breakfast sausages, will cook a little faster than thicker sausages like bratwursts. If you’re Whole30, make sure the sausages you use are Whole30-compliant!

Chef’s Tips

  • For larger sausages or smaller air fryers, you may not be able to fit 5 link sausages in the basket at once. That’s okay! You can work in batches if you need to. The key is to make sure they’re laying in one even layer, not touching or overlapping, so the air can circulate completely. Any spot the air can’t reach is a spot the sausage won’t cook completely.
  • Don’t pierce the skin of the sausages before you put them in the air fryer! The skin is there to hold in all the juices, and poking holes in it would just let all those juices run out during cooking.
  • Air fryer smoking? No worries! Sausages are high in fat, and sometimes the dripping fat causes a little smoke. If you run into this, you can try putting a parchment paper made specifically for air fryers in the bottom of the basket, under the sausages. A little water in the bottom of the basket could help, too.
  • Air fryers are phenomenal, but like with any appliance, one can be a little different from another. Keep an eye on your sausages in the air fryer the first time or two you make them, so you know exactly what cook time works best for your air fryer! Remember, with pork sausage, you want an internal temperature of at least 160° Fahrenheit.

Frozen Egg Rolls in the Air Fryer

Cooking frozen egg rolls in the air fryer is a total game changer! Once you try this quick and easy method, you’ll never cook egg rolls any other way!

4 air fried egg rolls on a black plate with a ramekin of soy sauce for dipping

What Makes Frozen Egg Rolls in the Air Fryer So Good

  • You’ll get perfectly crispy egg rolls every single time with the literal least amount of effort possible.
  • No need to thaw your egg rolls or preheat your air fryer, which cuts way down on your total cooking time!
  • You can use this method with frozen egg rolls AND to reheat leftover egg rolls!

Frozen Egg Rolls in the Air Fryer Ingredients

Frozen Egg Rolls – This method works for any brand or variety of frozen egg rolls you like! The recipe below has instructions for cooking 4 egg rolls, but you can absolutely cook more than that. You just might need to do them in multiple batches depending on how many you’re making.

Spray Oil – You can use any oil you like for this recipe! It’ll work with vegetable, olive, coconut, avocado… pretty much any oil you can think of. You only need a little to keep the egg rolls crunchy. See the “Chef’s Tips” section for an important warning about aerosol spray oils!

Chef’s Tips

  • If you want your egg rolls extra crispy, spray them again (lightly) with oil when you flip them over.
  • Depending on the egg rolls you use, you may need to adjust the temperature or the cook time. Mini egg rolls may cook faster in your air fryer than full size egg rolls. Pay attention when you flip them over and pivot as you need to!
  • Don’t use aerosol spray oils in your air fryer basket! Aerosol sprays (like PAM) have harsh ingredients that can damage the coating on your air fryer basket. Instead, put your oil-of-choice in an oil mister or spray bottle and use that.
  • Place your frozen egg rolls in the basket in a single, flat layer, without any of the egg rolls touching or overlapping. They need to be spread out so the air can circulate around them on all sides – otherwise they won’t cook evenly!

Air Fryer Garlic Bread

This super simple recipe for air fryer garlic bread produces perfect crispy, buttery garlic bread each and every time. Ready in less than 10 minutes, it’s great as a side for pasta dinners (like this Baked Feta Pasta) or to dip into pizza sauce for a quick snack or appetizer.

What Makes This Recipe So Good

  • This garlic bread is hot and table-ready in less than 10 minutes, so it’s perfect for easy weeknight spaghetti dinners.
  • It’s automatically better than store-bought garlic bread because it’s fresh and because you control the ingredients! Love extra garlicky garlic bread? Want it to be cheesier? Prefer a lighter bake for softer bread? You can make that happen!
  • If you’ve got older bread that needs to be eaten ASAP, this is a perfect recipe for it. Older bread will end up crispier, and really fresh bread will be a little softer.
  • Frozen garlic bread can go straight from the freezer to the air fryer with no thawing, so make a batch to keep on hand! Spread the butter mixture on slices of French bread and freeze them in a single layer. Once they’re fully frozen, you can transfer them to a zippered freezer bag and store them up to 6 months. When you’re ready to eat, cook them in the air fryer at 340°F for 5-7 minutes.

Air Fryer Garlic Bread Ingredients

Bread – I love bread. I said it. I love bread. I used French bread for this recipe because it’s soft inside with a perfect crispy outer layer. You can also use Italian loaf or ciabatta.

Cheese – There’s just nothing like a great cheese. You can use any kind of grated parmesan for this recipe, but the mass-produced U.S. brands are usually imitation parmesan made with fillers. For the best flavor, buy a wedge of genuine Parmigiano-Reggiano and grate it yourself. If you’re a big cheese person, consider adding a little mozzarella or an Italian blend to your bread.

How to Make Air Fryer Garlic Bread

The full recipe & ingredients list are below, but here you’ll find a quick overview for making this recipe perfectly, along with useful tips and info!

Once you know how to make air fryer garlic bread, you’ll never make garlic bread any other way!

Mix softened butter, parmesan cheese, parsley, and crushed garlic together in a bowl and spread the mixture on slices of French bread. Place the slices of bread in the air fryer and cook for 3-5 minutes until they’re golden and crispy. Serve immediately and enjoy!

Chef’s Tips

  • To cook properly, the air in your air fryer has to be able to circulate around the bread completely. Place your slices of bread in one flat layer without any overlap or touching, otherwise you’ll end up with unevenly fried garlic bread.
  • Preheating the air fryer is not necessary, but for the quickest cook, make sure your fryer is preheated to 360°F before you put in your bread.
  • If you’re using an air fryer with racks instead of a basket, be sure to rotate the racks halfway through the cook time. The food closest to the heating element will cook faster, and rotating the racks ensures everything cooks evenly!
  • The butter can sometimes cause a little smoke in the air fryer as it melts. If you run into this issue, adding a little water to the bottom of the air fryer basket may help.

How to Reheat Pizza in an Air Fryer

Reheating pizza in the air fryer is a total leftover game-changer that’s so quick and easy, you’ll never want to reheat pizza any other way again!

Air fryer reheated pizza with garlic butter

Why Reheating Pizza in the Air Fryer is So Great

  • It’s so much faster than reheating pizza in the oven. Air fryers take less time to preheat than ovens, so you’ll go from cold to cooking sooner, and have your hot pizza even faster!
  • There’s less clean up than using the oven! You don’t have to worry about a baking sheet or tin foil or anything like that.
  • Microwaving pizza is an option, sure, but the crust either gets soggy or tough and rubbery. That doesn’t happen in the air fryer! The air fryer keeps the crust crispy, so it’s just as good as it was on day one.
  • It works with any kind of pizza. Thick crust, thin crust, store bought, homemade – the possibilities are endless!

How to Reheat Pizza in the Air Fryer

The full recipe & ingredients list are below, but here you’ll find a quick overview for making this recipe perfectly, along with useful tips and info!

Pizza is one of those magical foods that’s great when it’s fresh and even better as a leftover. Don’t ask me how; we just have to accept that it’s one of those things we’ll never understand.

For the BEST reheated pizza ever, you’ll want to use an air fryer. Preheat the air fryer to 325° if you’ve got thin crust pizza, and 350° for thick crust pizza. If you’re heating up multiple slices, lay them flat in the basket in one single layer. Pop the basket in the air fryer for 3 to 4 minutes, then remove and enjoy!

One slice of cheese pizza in an air fryer bowl

Chef’s Tips

  • If you’re reheating multiple slices of pizza, try to reheat similar size slices together. You don’t want to reheat a small thin slice with a huge thick slice, because the smaller one will be dry and possibly burnt by the time the bigger one is ready.
  • Don’t overlap your pizza slices in the basket. The air won’t be able to circulate properly, and your pizza won’t reheat evenly.
  • Spread a little garlic butter or cooking oil on the crust before you put your pizza in the air fryer. That’ll make it crispier and give it a little extra flavor!
  • If the pizza starts to brown or burn before it’s warmed through, lower the temperature of your air fryer by 25°.

Frozen Sweet Potato Fries in the Air Fryer

These delicious frozen sweet potato fries are a little sweet and a little salty. They crisp to perfection in the air fryer, making them a perfect snack or side when you want something quick, easy, and healthy.

Why Frozen Sweet Potato Fries in the Air Fryer Are So Good

  • Because air fryers use air instead of oil to fry food, you save calories but still get that great deep-fried flavor and crunch.
  • Oven-baked fries can be soggy (or worse, burnt), especially if you’re reheating leftovers. Air fryer fries are perfectly crisp every time – plus you can cook them from frozen, no need to thaw!
  • Sweet potato fries specifically are best in the air fryer. Because of their lower starch content, it’s almost impossible to get the perfect fry texture when you cook sweet potatoes in the oven.
  • Air fryers generally cook faster than a conventional oven, and the clean up is usually easier, too!

New to air fryers and trying to decide which one to get? Visit our sister site, 40 Aprons, to read about the 5 Air Fryers We Love.

Frozen Sweet Potato Fries Ingredients

Sweet Potatoes – This root veggie is a traditional Thanksgiving staple, but I love them all year long! When it comes to macros, they’re comparable to white potatoes, but they’re a much better source of antioxidants and vitamins A, B, C, and D.

Cinnamon – Everyone knows cinnamon is a little spicy and a little sweet – but did you know cinnamon is believed to have some wonderful health properties? It has essentially no protein or fat, but it does have small amounts of beta carotene and Vitamin A, which are both great for eye health!

How to Make Frozen Sweet Potato Fries in the Air Fryer

The full recipe & ingredients list are below, but here you’ll find a quick overview for making this recipe perfectly, along with useful tips and info!

This recipe honestly could not be any easier! Toss your frozen sweet potatoes in oil, then coat them evenly in salt and cinnamon. Pop them in the air fryer for 7 minutes at 375 degrees Fahrenheit, flip them, and fry for another 7 minutes. If you like your fries a little crispier, add another 2-3 minutes in the air fryer.

Serve these hot with your favorite dipping sauce – they’re great with ketchup, honey mustard, spicy sriracha-mayo, or comeback sauce! If you’re Whole30, be sure your condiments are compliant!

Chef’s Tips

  • Bags of frozen sweet potato fries are super quick and easy, but I recommend making your own fries from scratch! Start with a sweet potato and cut it into fries by hand or with a french fry cutter. Plan ahead – you want all of your fries to be roughly the same size so that they cook consistently. Spread the unseasoned fries evenly on a parchment-paper-lined sheet pan and stick them in the freezer. Freeze them for a couple of hours or until they’re hard. Toss them in a baggie or airtight container and keep them in your freezer until you’re ready for them. They’ll keep like this for a few months!
  • Be sure to spread the fries in a flat layer in the air fryer basket, and don’t let them touch or overlap. If the air can’t flow around them easily, they won’t cook evenly!
  • If you have any leftovers, you can totally reheat them in the air fryer! A few minutes at 400 degrees Fahrenheit will make them nice and crispy again.

Air Fryer Popcorn

Buttery air fryer popcorn gives you a salty, crunchy, delicious snack in under 15 minutes! Popping your own kernels lets you control the amount of butter and seasoning you use, for an easy healthy snack that’s totally new every time you make it.

An Important Note About Air Fryer Popcorn

Air fryer popcorn takes A. LOT. of trial and error to get right. When you do get it right, it’s a great alternative to the stove or the microwave when you just can’t use those methods.

The downside, though, is that air fryer popcorn can actually destroy your air fryer. See, the air fryer isn’t closed inside. The fan and vents are directly above the basket, which allows the air to circulate. That also means it’s really easy to blow small or lightweight foods – you know, like popcorn kernels – all over the place. When that happens, popcorn kernels can easily become lodged inside the heating element, causing your air fryer to short (and creating a fire hazard).

For that reason, we don’t really recommend using an air fryer for your popcorn. You’ll likely have an easier time and much better results by using the stovetop or a microwave. That being said, it can be done, and if you want to know how, we’re here to tell you!

Key Ingredients for Air Fryer Popcorn

Popcorn Kernels – From a bag or from a jar, it doesn’t matter what kind of kernels you use, so long as they’re unpopped!

Oil – You can use 1/4 tablespoon oil to coat your kernels, or you can spray a little air-fryer-safe spray oil on them instead. Any oil will work – avocado, olive oil, even coconut oil if you like!

Air Fryer Popcorn

Chef’s Tips

  • It can be hard to get all the kernels to pop at the same time. That’s why we’re working in batches and removing the popped popcorn every few minutes. If you leave the basket in until all the kernels pop then the ones that popped early on will burn. And believe me, no one likes burnt popcorn.
  • As with any appliance, air fryers can vary dramatically from one unit to the next. I have two and they don’t always act the same! There’s definitely a lot of trial and error to this method. You may have better luck with a shorter or longer cook time, or you could try picking out the popped kernels more frequently. Your air fryer may do better with the foil laid flat on the bottom of the basket, and some may do better with the foil bowl almost completely closed at the top. The method outlined below is the one that gave me the fluffiest, best tasting popcorn after lots of testing.
  • Just like when you pop popcorn in the microwave, you’re going to end up with some unpopped kernels at the end of your cook time. I think there’s some law of nature that prevents all of the kernels from popping completely no matter what method you use. Okay, maybe not, but it seems like it. You can increase your odds of popping every kernel by lowering the amount of kernels you start out with.

Air Fryer Mushrooms

These air fryer mushrooms are savory, perfectly seasoned, and absolutely delicious! Perfect as a side dish or a vegan main course on top of rice, they will become one of your favorite things to cook in the air fryer. They’re also keto, low carb, and gluten-free!

Overhead shot of a white bowl full of air fryer mushrooms topped with bits of parsley

What You’ll Need To Make This Recipe

Mushrooms – You can use any type of mushroom you like or whatever is on sale! We used white button mushrooms, but you could use crimini, porcini, or baby bella.
Olive oil
Garlic powder
Soy sauce or Worcestershire sauce –
If you’re vegan or vegetarian, be sure to use soy sauce as Worcestershire sauce contains anchovies.
Kosher salt
Black pepper
Lemon
– Optional, but add a nice citrus burst of flavor.
Parsley

How To Make Air Fryer Mushrooms

Add the mushrooms to a bowl along with the oil, soy sauce or Worcestershire, and seasonings and toss to coat.

Place the mushrooms in air fryer and cook at 380º for about 10-12 minutes. Toss halfway through the cook time.

Squeeze a little lemon juice on top of your mushrooms, if you like, and sprinkle with fresh parsley.

  • A white bowl full of marinated mushrooms on a white marble counter
  • Marinated mushrooms resting on a air fryer tray

Top Tips For Making

  • If you’re using smaller mushrooms (like button or porcini), cut them in half. For larger mushrooms, either quarter them or cut into cubes (like with a portobello).
  • You can absolutely double or triple this recipe to feed a larger crowd! You can cook a large batch at a time, but shake the air fryer basket more than once while cooking to allow all the mushrooms to cook evenly.
  • To prepare your mushrooms to cook, cut a thin slice off the bottom of the stem. Use a damp paper towel to wipe off the dirt of each mushroom. You can also rinse the mushrooms and pat them very dry. If you soak them, they will absorb the water and become too moist!

Fried pickles on a plate with a side of ranch

What You’ll Need To Make This Recipe

Dill pickles
Eggs
Heavy cream
Almond flour
Parmesan cheese
Cajun seasoning
Cayenne pepper
Avocado oil spray

How To Make Air Fryer Fried Pickles

Cut the pickles in half lengthwise, then cut them again into quarters.

Mix together the eggs and the heavy cream in a shallow dish.

In a separate bowl, mix together the parmesan cheese, almond flour, and the seasoning.

Dip the pickle slices in the egg mixture.

Dip the egg-coated pickles into the almond flour mixture, making sure to coat each side well.

Put the pickles on a tray or plate and freeze until the coating becomes solid, about 15 minutes.

Preheat the air fryer for 5 minutes at 400º F. When it’s heated, spray the air fryer baking sheet or basket with the oil so that the pickles won’t stick.

Arrange the pickles in a single layer in the air fryer. Spray them with some more oil.

Cook for 10-12 minutes in the air fryer at 400º F. Flip them halfway through the cook time.

Top Tips For Making

  • If you’re on a keto diet, make sure you use sugar-free pickles. We used Bubbies for ours.
  • No need to run out a buy a block of parmesan to grate! You can use pre-grated parm, including the kind that comes in a plastic shaker!
