Recipe Notes
Use frozen fruit: Frozen fruit gives the smoothie the consistency it needs. You can use either fresh or pre-frozen fruit for this recipe. We chopped up fresh mango and pineapple, put the slices in a plastic sandwich bag, and froze overnight. Unless the fruit is in season, buying pre-frozen mango and pineapple is also usually the more affordable option! If you prefer fruity over thick, you can sub the almond milk and yogurt with 1 1/2 cup orange juice.Change the thickness: For a thinner smoothie, use 1 ½ cups almond milk.Sweeten: To make your smoothie a bit sweeter, add 2 tablespoons of maple syrup to your ingredients. But always add the sweetener to taste, because if your fruit is super-ripe you may not need to add any at all!Up the protein: Feel free to blend in a scoop of vanilla protein powder for an extra boost of protein. You'll likely need to increase the amount of almond milk you use to offset the powder.
