The key to re-creating Texas Roadhouse’s perfectly cooked, mouthwatering steaks that always come with the perfect crust is this copycat Texas Roadhouse Steak Seasoning! Made from a blend of ingredients you probably already have in the pantry it is a simple, versatile steak rub that will yield restaurant-quality steaks every single time!

Why You’ll Love This Recipe
- Texas Roadhouse makes the best steaks, and part of their secret is their signature steak seasoning. This measure-and-mix recipe will soon become your go-to steak blend, helping you re-create that restaurant quality at home.
- This steak seasoning is so versatile, it will work with almost any sides you’d pair with a well-cooked steak. Aside from the Texas Roadhouse Classics (all of our copycat recipes for them are linked at the bottom of this post!) you can also complete your steak night with our Rosemary Roasted Potatoes (or some Air Fryer Frozen French Fries) and some perfectly cooked Sous Vide Asparagus.
Chef’s Tips
- This recipe makes 1 cup steak seasoning and you won’t need all it at once. Store any leftovers in a labeled, air-tight jar in a cool, try place. It should keep indefinitely, but the flavor will weaken over time.
- Use a butter baste: Texas Roadhouse finishes their steaks with a melted butter brush. Add a small pat of butter during the last minute of grilling or pan-searing for the ultimate copycat experience!
- When you’re getting ready to cook the steaks, aim for 450–500°F grill or a ripping-hot cast iron. And don’t skip the sugar: it’s key for that signature caramelized crust.

Copycat Texas Roadhouse Steak Seasoning
Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons kosher salt
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon paprika
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon onion powder
- 2 teaspoons chili powder
- 2 teaspoons smoked paprika
- 1 teaspoon turmeric
- 1 teaspoon cornstarch helps the seasoning “stick” and crisp
- 1 teaspoon coarse sea salt optional, for texture
Instructions
- Add all ingredients to a small bowl and stir well, breaking up any clumps from the brown sugar.
- Let the rub sit 10 minutes so the sugar hydrates slightly and blends into the mix.
- Pat the steaks dry, oil lightly, then coat generously with seasoning. You don't want any excess that won't stick to the steaks, but don't be shy!
- Let the seasoned steak sit 20–30 minutes before cooking so the salt can penetrate and the crust develops properly!
