This moist, tender Gluten Free Apple Cake recipe is a true family favorite! Packed with tender apples and with a classic Cinnamon-Sugar Topping it is a gluten free version of my Mom’s apple cake recipe that is just as good as the original!

Slice of apple cake with a cinnamon sugar topping on a grey place, with the pan of cake and fresh apples in the background.

Why You’ll Love This Recipe

  • This is the best classic apple cake, but made gluten free! My Mom has made the same apple cake recipe from Southern Living in 1992 once a year ever since. I’ve taken that recipe, and made it gluten free!
  • The tender, yet still light and moist apple-packed cake contrasts really well with the sweet, crunchy cinnamon-sugar topping.
  • Even though this cake is gluten free, it is still made with pantry ingredients!

Chef’s Tips

  • Choose a baking variety of apple for this cake, any green or yellow varieties should work well.
  • Don’t skip leaving the cake to cool completely in the pan, as the gluten free flour mix needs time to absorb all of the moisture from the apples or you’ll end up with a soggy cake.
  • Serve this cake plain with a cup of coffee, or with a scoop of vanilla or salted caramel ice cream for the ultimate fall dessert!
