Cooking frozen garlic bread in the air fryer is one of the best, fastest, easiest shortcuts for one of my favorite side dishes. The air fryer gives you garlic bread that’s perfectly crispy on the outside but amazingly soft and fluffy on the inside. I promise, you’ll never cook frozen garlic bread any other way!

What Makes This Recipe So Good

  • Cooking frozen garlic bread in the air fryer is SO easy and fast – even easier and faster than using the oven, and with MUCH better results. We’re talking garlic bread that’s deliciously crisp outside, but unbelievably soft and fluffy inside.
  • There’s zero prep work. You don’t even need to defrost the bread. Just pop it straight into the air fryer and let it cook for 5 minutes or so. Add another few minutes if needed to hit your desired level of toast doneness, then dig in!
  • It’s no secret that garlic bread is a great addition to almost any meal, but especially those pasta dishes. Pair your air fryer frozen garlic bread with our Turkey Spaghetti, Instant Pot lasagna, or spaghetti and meatballs. Not feeling pasta? Try it with this Crusted Chicken Romano, Gluten Free Tomato Soup, or Chicken Scarpariello.

Chef’s Tips

  • For the garlic bread to cook evenly, don’t overcrowd your air fryer basket. Place the bread pieces on a single layer without touching or overlapping, so the air can circulate like it needs to.
  • Keep an eye on your garlic bread. Cook times will vary from one air fryer to another. They’ll also vary depending on the size and thickness of the bread, your preferred level of doneness, and the number of batches you’re air frying. Later batches won’t need to cook as long as earlier batches. Adjust your cook times as needed so you don’t overcook or undercook your bread.

Equipment

  • Air Fryer
  • Cooking spray safe for air fryers optional
  • Tongs
  • Cutting board
  • Bread knife

Instructions

  • Preheat air fryer to 360° Fahrenheit. If desired, lightly spray air fryer basket with cooking spray.
  • Once air fryer is preheated, place frozen garlic bread loaf in air fryer basket, being careful not to overcrowd air basket. Work in batches as needed depending on size of bread or air fryer basket.

  • Place air fryer basket in air fryer. Cook garlic bread 5 minutes, then open air fryer and check bread doneness. If needed, return basket to air fryer and air fry bread another 2 to 3 minutes, or until garlic bread is lightly golden brown.

  • Use tongs to carefully transfer bread to cutting board. Let bread cool 1 to 2 minutes, then carefully slice loaf and serve as desired.

Notes

  • This method works for any brand and any type of frozen garlic bread, including frozen garlic bread loaves, pre-sliced frozen garlic bread, Texas Toast, and gluten-free garlic bread. If you’re using a frozen loaf, cut the loaf in half before air frying it, so it will fit better in the basket.
  • Cook times will vary depending on the size and thickness of the garlic bread, your preferred doneness, and the number of slices you’re air frying (if using pre-sliced bread). Keep an eye on the toast and adjust as needed.
  • If working in multiple batches, later batches won’t need as long in the air fryer as earlier batches.
