This copycat Chick-fil-A coleslaw recipe is the perfect addition to your next barbecue. Light, fresh, and a little sweet, this simple slaw is absolutely delicious on BBQ pulled pork or chicken, layered in sandwiches, or served as a refreshing side.

What We Love About This Recipe

  1. If you were a fan of the classic Chick-Fil-A coleslaw, you’ve probably been mourning its retirement since the day it left the menu. We totally get it. Thankfully, this recipe is a perfect recreation of that staple side dish.
  2. The flavors are fresh and tangy and a little sweet.
  3. The ingredients list is SO simple. 6 ingredients total, and that includes the salt.
  4. No time spent in the drive thru, and the homemade coleslaw is way more cost-effective, too.

Chef’s Tips

  • It takes a little time, but don’t skip the chill. When your Chick-fil-A coleslaw’s in the fridge, all the ingredients are melding together and really deepening. Trust me. You’ll have a much more flavorful bowl of slaw after 2 hours than you will right after it’s made.
  • Don’t be put off by the sugar in the recipe. I promise you won’t feel like you’re eating a dessert! It’s just enough to play off the tanginess of the mayo and the vinegar, and it’s so delicious!
  • Any kind of slaw mix will work just fine here, but if you really want a Chick-fil-A coleslaw copycat, get a mix that’s just green cabbage and carrots. The original CFA slaw didn’t have any purple cabbage or broccoli slaw or nuts or tortilla strips. Just green cabbage and carrots.

I’ve always loved Chick-fil-A’s coleslaw, and I was so sad when they removed it from the menu! Thank you for sharing this recipe—it’s great to know I can still enjoy the same classic taste at home. Looking forward to trying it this weekend!” Chickfill-a.com
