A creamy twist on classic Earl Grey tea, this easy at-home London Fog latte is the perfect way to start (or end) your day! Citrusy black tea combines with warm, frothy milk infused with vanilla and a touch of honey to create a cozy, comforting beverage that transforms your kitchen into a coffeehouse in less than 10 minutes.
What We Love About This Recipe
- It’s a perfect dupe for a coffeehouse tea latte without the price tag! You can even add a little espresso, making it a “dirty” London Fog latte.
- You can customize it any and every way you like! Steep the tea 5 minutes for a more prominent flavor, or just 3 minutes for a more subtle flavor. Sweeten it with your choice of honey, maple syrup, lavender or vanilla simple syrup, or your favorite liquid keto sweetener. Use your favorite milk or dairy-free milk. You’re in total control!
Try It with a Lavender Simple Syrup!
If you prefer your London Fog latte with a heavy lavender flavor, turn the honey into an easy lavender simple syrup!
You’ll need:
- ½ cup white sugar, honey, agave syrup, or maple syrup
- ½ cup water
- 1 ½ teaspoons culinary-grade dried lavender
Combine the ingredients in a small saucepan over medium heat. Once everything’s combined and the mixture is warm, let it simmer for 1 minute, then turn off the heat. Leave the mixture where it is for about 20 minutes or until it’s cool, then pour the mixture through a fine mesh sieve and into a sealable glass jar.
Use as much or as little in your latte as you like!
Chef’s Tips
- Earl Grey teas can vary substantially from one brand to another. Some include notes of lavender while others don’t. You can also find caffeine-free versions if you’re avoiding caffeine for any reason. Make sure you use a brand of Earl Grey tea you really like – it’s giving your London Fog latte its flavor!
- For more lavender flavor, add a few dried lavender buds to a loose-leaf tea strainer and steep them in boiling water along with the tea bags.
- Any milk will work just fine in this latte recipe, but some will foam and froth better than others! Whole milk is a great dairy option because it doesn’t have so much fat that it’s too heavy to froth. Oat milk is a favorite alt-milk for lattes because it froths so well, but soy milk and almond milk work well, too.

London Fog Latte
Ingredients
- 2 bags earl grey tea
- 1 ½ cups boiling water
- 1 ½ cups milk of choice whole milk, almond milk, coconut milk, etc.
- ½ teaspoon pure vanilla extract see Notes
- 2 tablespoons honey or 2 tablespoons vanilla syrup, see Notes
Equipment
- large measuring cup
- Small saucepan optional, see Notes
- whisk optional, see Notes
- spoon
- 2 mugs
Instructions
- Place 2 bags earl grey tea in large measuring cup. Add 1 ½ cups boiling water to measuring cup, covering tea bags completely. Let tea steep 5 minutes.
- While tea steeps, add 1 ½ cups milk of choice, ½ teaspoon pure vanilla extract, and 2 tablespoons honey to small saucepan. Whisk ingredients together until combined, then place saucepan on stovetop over medium-low heat.
- Simmer milk mixture over medium-low heat approximately 2 minutes or until warm, then remove saucepan from heat. Whisk mixture vigorously until milk foams.
- Remove tea bags from measuring cup. Transfer foamed milk to measuring cup, reserving some foamed milk to spoon on top of lattes.
- Gently stir milk and tea together until combined, then divide mixture between 2 mugs. Top lattes with reserved foamed milk if desired and serve hot.
Notes
- Vanilla Extract & Vanilla Syrup: If you’re replacing the honey with vanilla syrup, omit the vanilla extract entirely.
- To Warm Milk: Instead of the stovetop method outlined above, use a steam wand (if you have one) to steam your milk instead.
- To Froth Milk: Instead of whisking the milk by hand to incorporate air, transfer it to a heatproof glass or measuring cup and use a milk frother to make it foamy. For best results, hold the container at a 45° angle while frothing the milk.

Hi I am an avid follower of your blog,
I haven’t rated yet because both in the narrative, and in the descriptive ingredients, there seems to be inconsistencies.
The narrative does not list the agave syrup or maple syrup.
The descriptive lists 1/5 cup of water(?). Shouldn’t it be 1/2 cup?
I’d like to make this tea, but it’s not consistent.
Thank you,
Hi Cindy,
Thanks so much for bringing it to our attention. We fixed those errors. You are correct, that was a typo for the water- should be 1/2 cup.
Thanks so much!
Hi!
This looks so good! I usually have a Keto Coffee every morning! Think I could make a Keto Earl Grey Latte?! I usually use water in mine though! LOL
