Why You’ll Love This Recipe

  • Salt baking this copycat Texas Roadhouse Baked Potato recipe gives them an addictively crisp-crust, all the while keeping the middles tender, light and fluffy. Serve them ‘loaded’, or simply with a slice of butter melted in the middle as an easy side dish. Have you tried them with chili spooned over the top, or ground beef and gravy??
  • It may take an hour to cook these delicious salt-crusted baked potatoes, but it only takes about 10 minutes to get them ready for the oven, and then a few minutes more to gather all the toppings, making them still perfect for an easy, restaurant-quality weeknight dinner at home.
  • Because you’re individually wrapping each potato, this recipe is totally scalable to suit your family – baked potatoes also make the perfect family meal as everyone can choose their favorite toppings!

Chef’s Tips

  • If you want to up the flavor, use the rendered bacon fat from making the crispy bacon pieces instead of oil to make the salt stick to the potato skins!
  • Russet potatoes work particularly well, as their skins crisp up really well, all the while keeping that desirable fluffy middle!
