This ranch cottage cheese dip went viral on TikTok and turned everyone into a cottage cheese convert! Take 2 ingredients and about 5 minutes, and you get a creamy, protein-packed veggie dip loaded with that tangy, herby ranch flavor you love. Grab the chips and crunch veggies, because this deserves a spot at snack hour or at your next tailgate party!

What Makes This Viral Recipe Different

  • This dip comes with a twist! You get the familiar garlic-and-herb flavor of classic ranch dip, plus protein from the cottage cheese for a nice nutritional boost, and less fat.
  • Two ingredients, seriously. Cottage cheese and dry ranch seasoning do all the work. No need to chop a bunch of herbs or add sour cream. It’s that simple!
  • This is soo good for snacking with cut up vegetables, and you’ve got something ready for lunchboxes, snack plates, or an appetizer for game day or any party occasion.

Cheryl’s Tested Notes & Tips

  • We really want it smooth. So, plan on about 3-4 minutes of blending time, depending on your blender. If it still feels grainy, scrape down the sides and blend another 30-60 seconds more.
  • Speaking of, hopefully you have an immersion blender. A food processor is my second choice; it blends sauces and dips really well. You can use a regular blender, but you’ll have to stop it a few times to scrape the sides until the mixture is smooth.

Ingredient Notes

  • Choose full-fat cottage cheese, cause it’s the best. I’m not a fan of lower-fat cottage cheese because it makes the dip less rich, but if you want to switch, go for it.
  • Use dry ranch seasoning, not bottled. We want a dry seasoning, rather than adding more liquid to the recipe.

Serving Suggestions

  • Veggies for dipping. My faves ae baby carrots and persian cucumbers. But snap peas, red, yellow, and green peppers are also yummy!
  • Party snacks for game day. So delicious with crackers, pretzels, or chips. I also like some crusty French bread with this too.
  • Grilled or roasted chicken. A total given and a classic! Try this with the Texas Roadhouse herb crusted chicken, crispy baked whole chicken wings, and mesquite grilled chicken.
  • Potatoes! I mean, really, potatoes in any form taste ahhmazing with this cottage cheese dip with ranch! Try out Air Fryer red potatoes, confit potatoes, sous vide potatoes, or accordion potatoes.
  • Sandwiches and wraps. Use it as a spread; put it inside a turkey sandwich, chicken sandwich, or veggie wrap. You could also thin out the dip a little and drizzle it over a chicken salad.

Storage & Make-Ahead

  • Refrigerator: You can store this for up to 5 days. My kids love this for their lunchboxes or after school.
  • Making it ahead: When I’m doing a party or gathering, I make this 1 day in advance. And don’t freeze this afterward; it just doesn’t work and turns into mush.

Recipe FAQs

  1. Does whipped cottage cheese ranch dip taste like cottage cheese? I’m a fan of how cottage cheese tastes, and sure, there’ll be a mild taste of it here. But the ranch seasoning supplies the dominant flavor. Remember that blending removes the curds, so the texture is super different from cottage cheese straight from the tub.
  2. Why is my cottage cheese ranch dip still grainy? I got you, this means you likely need to blend it more. Check that the mixture is circulating around the blade. Scrape down the sides and blend again. You might have to do this a few times.
  3. Can I make cottage cheese ranch dip without a blender? You can use a food processor or try a hand blender, but you definitely need something similar to create that smooth texture we want!

Instructions

  • Add 16 ounces cottage cheese to a blender, food processor, or tall immersion-blender container. Blend until completely smooth, about 3-4 minutes, stopping to scrape down the sides as needed. If any graininess remains, blend another 30-60 seconds, following your appliance’s operating limits.
  • Add 1 packet dry ranch seasoning mix, approximately 3 tablespoons, to the smooth cottage cheese. Stir thoroughly or pulse briefly until evenly combined. For a less salty dip, add half the seasoning first, then add more to taste.
