Think you don’t like cottage cheese? Wait until you try it like this! Whipped cottage cheese is a creamy, dreamy, luxurious version of a traditionally unattractive cheese, flavored with your favorite add-ins and served with veggies, fruits, toast, or crostini.
What We Love About This Recipe
- Turning cottage cheese into whipped cottage cheese is so ridiculously simple, and yet it makes such a dramatic difference! By whipping cottage cheese, it goes from lumpy and wet to fluffy, creamy, and velvety smooth.
- This will convert even the staunchest cottage-cheese-haters. I promise, if you think you don’t like cottage cheese, give it a try like this just once.
- Whipped cottage cheese is super versatile! You can flavor it any way you like, and don’t even get me started on all the ways you can serve it or use it in a recipe!
Chef’s Tips
- You’ll get the best results from a full-fat cottage cheese, but a reduced-fat version will work. Fat-free cottage cheese won’t become as creamy as we want, so I’d avoid it if possible.
- I use a food processor when I make whipped cottage cheese, but you can use a standard blender, a high-speed blender, or an immersion blender and get the same great results!
Recipe Variations & Serving Suggestions
- Spread sweet whipped cottage cheese on a warm slice of toast and top it with your favorite jam or preserves.
- Enjoy the savory version as a dip with pickles or cucumber slices, radishes, strips of bell peppers, baby carrots, or crisp broccoli.
- Drizzle a little extra honey over the top and serve with apple slices, peach slices, grapes, or raspberries.
- Go Mediterranean and replace the chives with olive oil, fresh dill, and a little lemon juice. You can even toss in sun-dried tomatoes if you want! Serve with naan or pita bread, cherry tomatoes, and zucchini.
- Eat it by the bowl, topped with crunchy granola and bright strawberries. Feel free to add chia seeds, too!
- Blend the cottage cheese with ranch seasoning for a delicious Super Bowl dip. Just add your favorite potato chips!
- Slather whipped cottage cheese on a tortilla then add your favorite sandwich ingredients and wrap it all up together.
